Meet The Team

Debbie

Debbie has practised yoga for a number of years and has always enjoyed the calming and strengthening effect it has had on her life. When her youngest son was born with Cerebral Palsy, she was interested to see how yoga could help him too; he really enjoyed yoga and got a lot out of it however the nearest yoga class was so far away that they could only attend now and again. Debbie feels lucky to have attended The Special Yoga Centre in London where she completed training for Yoga for the Special Child. She also completed her yoga teacher training in August 2013 with CYS. She enjoys sharing the benefits of yoga with her son as well as other children and adults with special needs and their carers.

Debbie qualified as a massage therapist so she could bring a different element of health and wellbeing to the charity. She also teaches carers classes, mainstream students, children and adults with special needs, outreach work and manages the booking system and waiting list for Yogability.

Yoga Teachers

Jane

Jane’s yoga journey started when she first came to Glasgow, and practiced yoga at a weekly class at the Steiner school. Life got in the way after her daughters were born, and as she was still curious about yoga, she took it up again as the girls got older. She got in touch with Yogability in November 2013, to enquire about volunteering. Since then she has practiced regularly and in 2015 started RYT 200 hours training at Merchant City Yoga in Glasgow.

Jane has a regular practice in Hatha Yoga, along with meditation and pranayama She has completed extra studies in Yin yoga, yoga for children, Outreach yoga, and is currently undergoing Accessible Yoga training with Jivana Hayman.

Jane teaches weekly classes both online and in person.

Linda

Linda completed her yoga teacher training in 2024 and combines her love of yoga alongside working within the emergency services. Being immersed in two very different environments, Linda has found yoga to provide a way of returning to herself, offering peace and clarity during the inevitable ups and downs of life. Linda is also a keen advocate for cold water therapy and can regularly be found bobbing about a Scottish loch! Linda currently teaches two classes for Yogability offering a warm, non judgemental and supportive space to quieten the mind and feel a sense of belonging. All are welcome to join her on the mat.

Angiolina

Angiolina came to yoga later in life, in her mid-fifties. Some ten years later it is an important part of how she maintains her strength, flexibility and overall well being.

She completed her yoga teacher training in the summer of 2021 and has been teaching with Yogability since the autumn of that year.

She looks forward to welcoming you to one of her classes.

Rachael

Rachael’s mum took her to her first yoga class when she was 7 and it is a passion that she has carried with her ever since. It was never a question of ‘if’ she would do her teacher training, but ‘when’. She has been involved in Yogability since the first class back in Drumchapel community centre and it’s such a pleasure for her to now teach the class and spend her Wednesday nights with the greatest group of yogis!

Trustees

Tracey

Tracey is a nurture teacher in a Glasgow school. She uses yoga with her children in school and to help maintain her own well-being.

Soon after, she started to volunteer with the charity, helping with fundraising events. In 2016 she completed her yoga teacher training and extra studies in Yin yoga. These qualifications have provided her with a deeper understanding of her practice

Jo-Ann

Jo-Ann is a carer to her daughter who has a severe learning disability. She has been involved with Yogability for the last 8 years and attends one of the yoga classes for carers. She benefits greatly from the support that Yogability provides. Jo-Ann is the charity’s Treasurer and enjoys helping at the fundraisers.

Cameron

Cameron has been part of Yogability from the beginning and has enjoyed the sessions with Debbie and Helen over the years. Cameron is a Disability Liaison Officer for the West of Scotland Football Association, but is still very involved as a trustee with Yogability and enjoys supporting the charity with their fundraisers and other events.

Susanne

Suzanne was invited to Yogability but never seemed to be able to fit it in between work and family commitments. Then, after her mum died she felt she needed to focus on herself and she has never looked back. Yogability is an oasis of calm and joy. Set in a friendly, caring environment, with instructors who deliver top class sessions, without pressure. You can get in tune with your mind and body. Suzanne looks forward to every week on the mat.

Isobel

Isobel has been a supporter of children in their early years through various roles in her career. She found yoga when Jane became a teacher and has enjoyed the benefits of classes ever since. Isobel has been a long term supporter of Yogability fundraisers and now, as a trustee.
